Vincent Marissal does not close the door to a candidacy for mayor of Montreal

Rosemont Solidarity MNA Vincent Marissal says he is flattered that his name is circulating as a possible candidate for mayor of Montreal, and he did not rule out the possibility Thursday morning.

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante announced Wednesday that she would not be running for a third term as head of the metropolis.

Since then, several names have been circulating to run for mayor, including that of Mr. Marissal, who represents a Montreal riding.

At a press briefing Thursday morning, Mr. Marissal said that it was still much too early to make a decision on the subject and that he still had a long time to think about it before making a decision.

He did not want to say until when he could think about it.

“You can scrummer meuntil noon, I’ll tell you the same thing, he maintained. I need to do an interview with myself, I need to discuss.”

The MP acknowledged that he had been approached a few months ago by certain people on the subject, but he said he had put that thought on hold since then.

Vincent Marissal nevertheless assured that he was very satisfied with his current work as an MP.

“Do I like my job here in Quebec City?? That’s a resounding yes. I love my job here,” he said.
