Follow the information about the Tour of Spain 2024 with the stage result and the general classification.

The 2024 Vuelta is the 79th edition of the Tour of Spain cycling race and takes place from August 17 to September 8, 2024 between Lisbon in Portugal and Madrid. Primoz Roglic is the big favorite of this edition to save his season. Aleksandr Vlasov, Daniel Felipe Martinez and Florian Lipowitz could take on the role of leader at Red Bull – BORA hansgrohe if, by chance, the Slovenian is not in good enough shape. Joatildeo Almeida, 4th in the last Tour de France, and Adam Yates are also expected. Richard Carapaz (EF Education EasyPost), the recent best climber of the Tour, could aim for the general classification, as could Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain – Victorious), 5th in the Giro last May or Ben O'Connor.

14:27 – A start intense stage

After just under 40 kilometres of racing, the breakaway has not yet formed despite the passage at the top of the Alto de Fonfria, classified in the 2nd category. On the descent a group of three riders, including Wout Van Aert, are at ahead with less than 20 seconds in advance.

13:15 – The UAE back in the game

The first week had been difficult for the Emirati team, with the withdrawal of Joao Almeida while he was perfectly placed in the general classification, positive for Covid-19. Adam Yates also had a difficult first few days, hit hard by the Andalusian heat and then by a fall on the 6th stage. Until Sunday's stage to Granada, where the Briton has completely recovered. Winner of the stage solo, he is back in the top 10 overall and can dynamite the second week.

11:30 – A resumption with a bang

After the first day of rest yesterday, the 10th stage in Galicia that awaits the Vuelta peloton will not be a gentle resumption. With four climbs including a first category pass at 25 kilometers from the finish, a breakaway could well go all the way this Tuesday. After an ideal first week, Ben O'Connor should not be worried today, but it will be interesting to see the Australian's ability to continue as a week of all dangers awaits him.
