Vuelta 2024: the 12th stage and the general classification

Follow the information about the Tour of Spain 2024 with the result of the ;stage and the general classification.

The 2024 Vuelta is the 79th edition of the Tour of Spain cycling race and takes place from August 17 to September 8, 2024 between Lisbon in Portugal and Madrid. Primoz Roglic is the big favorite of this edition to save his season. Aleksandr Vlasov, Daniel Felipe Martinez and Florian Lipowitz could take on the role of leader at Red Bull – BORA hansgrohe if, by chance, the Slovenian is not in good enough shape. Joatildeo Almeida, 4th in the last Tour de France, and Adam Yates are also expected. Richard Carapaz (EF Education EasyPost), the recent best climber of the Tour, could aim for the general classification, as could Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain – Victorious), 5th in the Giro last May or Ben O'Connor.

15:22 – 12 runners &agrav; the front

Ten riders managed to break away, including Luis Meintjes and Jhonatan Narvaez, with two riders chasing at 50 seconds. The peloton is three minutes behind.

14:08 – The start in a few minutes

Short stage this Thursday, August 29 on the Vuelta with 137 kilometers starting from Ourense. The peloton will set off for the fictitious start at 2:10 p.m.

1:15 p.m. – O'Connor worried ?

While his lead remains significant, the Australian has lost a lot of time once again to Primoz Roglic and his opponents. “It's not the worst-case scenario but I'm not naive, there are a lot of guys who are really dangerous in this race. 11:30 – A fireworks stage

With only 137 kilometers, this 12th stage in line is the shortest of the Vuelta and promises a real fireworks display with a breakaway that has a chance of going all the way. The riders will gradually climb towards the foot of the station Manzaneda ski resort. While the summit is not the most difficult, it could still cause some damage depending on the fatigue of the runners and the pace of the race.
