Despite the holidays, the fighting has not abated between Ukraine and Russia, and neither have the victims. We take stock of the war figures at the beginning of this year.
In just over a month, the war between Ukraine and Russia will enter its third year. Tensions between Vladimir Putin and the rest of the world continue to rise, as do the number of victims in this conflict. However, these figures remain difficult to verify due to the propaganda of both countries.
Larger armies
The escalation has been noticeable for several months, particularly with the strengthened ties between Pyongyang and Moscow, and the sending of North Korean soldiers alongside the Russian army. For its part, Ukraine is said to have nearly a million soldiers in its ranks.
“The Ukrainian army is the largest in Europe. The second place after us (France) is four times smaller than us. I think the French have about 200,000. We have 980,000“, President Volodymyr Zelensky recently indicated in an interview with American podcaster Lex Fridman relayed by the Kyiv Independent.
