Waze: Are you affected by this very annoying bug ?

If you've been experiencing sound issues on Waze for a few weeks, you're not alone. The forums are full of user reports of these bugs encountered with the driving assistance assistant. Here's everything you need to know.

In detail, this issue mainly concerns Android and Android Auto. According to Phonandroid, some rarer flaws have also been reported on CarPlay. Specifically, if a user tries to adjust the volume of voice navigation instructions, all audio channels are affected at the same time.

In other words, adjusting the volume of road directions will change the volume of phone calls and music. While this does not prevent the application from working, it is of course problematic for the motorists concerned.

How to fix this bug ?

Moreover, and according to our colleagues, these problems were reported on the official Waze forums as early as January 7. According to 9to5Google, it is also widely discussed on the Reddit forums, so we can assume that this is not an isolated phenomenon. Version 5.2.1.0 of the application would be the cause.

To fix this, it is possible to go back to an earlier version by installing an old Waze APK file. To avoid a return to the latest version, also consider disabling automatic updates.

It seems that the Google service is currently working on a fix, although no release date has been announced. We can imagine that the customers concerned are quite impatient.

A language bug on Waze

As a reminder, Waze was recently hit by another rather strange bug. Last November, users reported that the service had changed the language without their request. Thus, and totally at random, Waze switched to Thai, Hebrew, or Cyrillic.

According to Le Figaro, it was an update of the application that caused this problem. Google then indicated that it was “aware of a problem affecting the language selection of Waze users” and specified that it wanted to fix it “quickly”.
