We saw the Inside Out spin-off, we skip or watch ?

In 2015, Disney and Pixar came to play with our emotions by releasing Inside Out. Both funny and moving, it won the Oscar for best animated film in 2016 and quickly became a must-have in Pixar's catalog.

We had to wait almost 10 years for Riley and her endearing emotions to meet us again. Good news: Inside Out 2 did not disappoint us and did not buckle under the pressure of the viewers' heavy expectations.

This second opus allowed to present new emotions (more subtle and “sophisticated”) while puberty hits Riley hard. This cocktail of emotions did not spare us, and I left the dark room with a lump in my throat, a heavy heart, a tear in the corner of my eye but, above all, a smile on my lips.

The return of Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust delighted viewers and Disney was not going to miss this opportunity. So, the house with the big ears took advantage of it. This Wednesday, December 11, 2024, Rêves Productions, an animated series about the dream factory in Riley's head, arrives. We were able to devour the episodes of Rêves Productions. Here's what we thought.

A hilarious trip behind the scenes of dreams

There's no point in beating around the bush: Rêves Productions is extremely funny. Composed of only 4 episodes of about 20 minutes each, the animated series takes us behind the scenes of young Riley's dreams. We had already seen briefly how it happened in the first film. What a pleasure to see much more!

To create Riley's dreams, you need talented directors. Among them, there is Paula Persimmon. Star director of Rêves Productions for a while, the “filmmaker” is no longer really in the know. But the problem is, she doesn't realize it yet… So when she's entrusted with creating Riley's next big dream, her future takes a dark turn.

Because yes, dreams are formative and can influence us when we wake up. Paula had better hang on if she doesn't want to lose her job at Rêves Productions. After her assistant leaves, she finds herself associated with the ambitious Xeni who, let's say it, has his own vision of dreams.

Thus, Rêves Productions is filmed as a documentary on, precisely, the “great” Paula Persimmon… And like any good mockumentaryself-respecting, Rêves Productions is hilarious. Filming the series like a documentary with a protagonist who is totally off the mark, there is something to remind us of The Office. The chaos she sows, the looks at the camera, the interviews with the characters who surround her… We laughed a lot. Thus, Rêves Productions is funny and refreshing. The series allows us to have a little extra after Inside Out 2, and there is no reason to deprive ourselves of it.

Behind this layer of humor, we become attached to Paula Persimmon and we can only identify with this character who is, ultimately, simply lacking in creativity. And the anxiety of the blank page should speak to more than one person.

If you want to take another trip inside Riley's head, Rêves Productions is available on Disney+ from this Wednesday, December 11, 2024. On the program ? 4 episodes that are just waiting for you to binge-watch.
