The orange alert that affected 30 departments, mainly in the north-east and in Île-de-France, for snow and ice, has now been lifted this Sunday, January 5.
This Saturday, many French departments in the north and northeast of the country were on orange alert for snow and ice, with snowfalls reaching nearly 5 cm in some places, particularly in the border departments of the Grand-Est.
Météo-France, indicated this Sunday morning that it had ended the orange snow-ice alert for the entire country, according to a new bulletin issued at six o'clock, after the end of freezing rain in the northeast.
“A disturbance associated with a mild air mass is sweeping across the entire country, in a southwest/northeast direction. This mild air is putting an end to the snow and freezing rain that required monitoring”, the meteorologists indicated.
Be careful though, “a layer of snow of 1 to 2 cm is still present from the north of Lorraine to Bas-Rhin”, the weather agency specifies.
