In connection with storm Bert, nine departments have been placed on orange alert by Mét&eacuteo France for "violent winds" this Monday, November 25. Gusts of up to 120 km/h are expected.

During the night of Sunday, November 24 to Monday, November 25, Mét&eacuteo France placed nine departments in the central-eastern part of France on orange alert for “strong winds”, until 6 p.m. this Monday. Saône-et-Loire, Allier, Puy-de-Dôme, Loire, Rhone, Haute-Loire, Ain, Isère and Jura are concerned. The strong gusts of wind are linked to the “Bert” depression. “The south-southeast wind has strengthened considerably on the departments placed on orange vigilance", specifies the weather station.

This Monday morning, the wind gusts accelerated and reached 100-110 km/h “notably in Lyon, in the Givors area, as far as the plains of northern Auvergne and Saône-et-Loire, with values in the Gier valley and the Haute-Loire valleys that could reach or exceed 120 km/h at peak”, indicates Météo France in its bulletin national.

In the Pyrenees, winds are expected to weaken this Monday morning. The Massif Central will be affected by this depression until early afternoon. Finally, Lyonnais, the Gier valley and Saône-et-Loir will have to wait until mid-afternoon to see the effects of depression Bert fade. The station has already recorded gusts of 111 km/h in Clermont-Ferrand, 99 km/h at Puy Chadrac and 91 km/h at Saint-Etienne.

Attention, Météo France warns that strong winds will not be limited to the departments placed on orange alert this Monday. "Uncertainty persists over a geographical extension of the phenomenon for strong gusts that may partially affect part of Cantal", we are assured. This Monday morning, all trains between Clermont-Ferrand and Paris were cancelled by SNCF. Trains running between the stations of Lyon, Saint-Etienne, Le Puy en Velay, Roanne, Montbrison and Roanne are also affected.
