WhatsApp gets a new ultra-practical feature

In its early days, WhatsApp was an extremely simple application with a single feature: to serve as an alternative to SMS. But, gradually, it has accumulated new features, including some features that directly target the world of work. For example, WhatsApp already has a feature that allows you to organize discussions between colleagues as you would on Slack. The messaging service has also greatly improved its group calls to become a viable alternative to services specialized in videoconferencing. And it is possible to have two WhatsApp accounts on the same smartphone, which allows for a better separation between professional and personal life.

Soon, a feature to scan documents ?

In addition, soon, WhatsApp could also formalize a feature that will allow you to scan documents. At least, that's what the WABetaInfo site indicates. According to it, some users of version 24.25.80 of WhatsApp for iOS already have access to this new feature. In essence, when a user is about to send a document, WhatsApp would offer a new option to scan. The advantage of this addition is that, if the user wants to send the scan of a paper document, they will no longer need to use a scanner or go through a third-party application. But at the moment, we don't know when this new feature will be available to everyone.

And that's not all, since in a previous article, published in November, WABetaInfo also mentioned a future WhatsApp feature that makes it easier to send photos in original quality, without compression, via WhatsApp (with a limit of 2 GB). If the image to be sent does not exceed the limit, it can be shared directly on WhatsApp, instead of using a third-party service like WeTransfer (whose links can be shared on services like WhatsApp).

  • In recent years, WhatsApp has developed quite a few practical features for the world of work, such as Communities that allow you to organize discussions on Slack, or even the improvement of group calls
  • And the next WhatsApp novelty for the world of work could be a feature that allows you to scan documents directly on the application
  • This would already be offered to some users of the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS
  • It avoids going through a third-party scanning application when you want to send a scan to someone
