When the art of decoration enhances businesses and their windows in Béziers

From Béziers to Montpellier, Claire Dodin transforms shop windows and walls into real works of art. With MMD Décoration, she combines creativity, eco-responsibility and promotion of local businesses.

Coming from a family of artists, Claire Dodin has always been immersed in the world of creation. “My parents were painters and engravers, my grandparents worked in textiles. I grew up surrounded by colors and materials”, she confides. After studying fashion design, she worked for more than ten years as a clothing designer and sewing trainer in her workshop-boutique in Montpellier and then in Gignac. Five years ago, her love of decoration and drawing pushed her to explore new forms of expression. “I graduated from Fine Arts, I trained in interior design before launching MDD Décoration in 2020, in the middle of a pandemic.”

A period that becomes a springboard for her activity: “After Covid, shopkeepers wanted to breathe new life into their shops.” Window painting is quickly gaining momentum, particularly in Béziers thanks to its collaboration with the tea room Le Monde du Macaron. For the 2024 holidays, the artist decorated around fifteen shop windows in Béziers, such as those of the BUESA agency, the MMA agency, the Au Boudoir salon and the Jean Vidal watchmaker. And she also works throughout the year, such as the seasonal windows of the Pharmacie Méditerranée. “My goal is to create decorations that reflect the identity of each brand and that enhance their window and their activity,” she explains. Because it is much more than a painting, it is a communication tool.”

An eco-responsible approach

If MDD Décoration's creations are so appealing, it is also thanks to a deliberate eco-responsible approach. Claire uses water-based paints, without solvents, and advocates sustainable decoration. “Decorative paints alone are enough to transform a space. This avoids adding plastic or light elements and reduces overconsumption.” Alongside these decorations, she creates permanent murals for professionals and individuals. Her recent work includes a Japanese-style mural for the Maison du Bien-Être in Roujan and a custom project in a private stairwell. “The mural is a simpler and more ecological alternative to wallpaper. It personalizes a space without the constraints of glue or polluting materials.”

At the dawn of 2025, Claire is overflowing with desires and projects: to transmit her passion through drawing lessons, to further develop her personal artistic universe and even to create frescoes for local communities.
