The president of the organizing committee for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games was able to attend the presentation of a new building project within the Montpellier Creps.

A building worth 11 million euros

Finally, and this is the purpose of the visit by the head of the Paris 2024 Games, the audience was presented with the atypical project of a 9-metre-high connected building in the heart of the Montpellier Creps, which should be delivered in September 2027 for a total cost of 11 million euros.

On several floors, it will house classrooms and dance rooms, changing rooms and even playing fields on the roof. “Carrying out innovative projects for our athletes is important, believes the new director of Creps Montpellier, Aurélie Martinière. This space will open up opportunities for certain federations, this is very good news.”

According to Kamel Chibli, “local authorities must work twice as hard on the legacy of the Games. New generations are showing that they want to do sport, we must meet this expectation. The investment for the Region is massive but it is necessary.”

Estanguet: “There is no coincidence”

Tony Estanguet, who also worked for structures such as Creps during his sports career crowned by three Olympic titles in canoeing, was delighted that such infrastructures are being built: “The Occitanie region played a major role in the success of the Games. The legacy will depend on what the regions do with them. When we see the investment so that the athletes are in the best possible conditions, it's a good sign and it shows that there is no such thing as chance. When we give ourselves the means, we can achieve ambitious objectives.”
