La Tour de Valat offers to adopt… a pink flamingo

#CAMARGUE You are missing a Christmas present ? Why not offer a pink flamingo ? La Tour de Valat, a research institute for the conservation of Mediterranean wetlands, is offering to adopt one of the emblematic birds of the Camargue. Three plans are offered, at €25, €50 or €100 per year.

In exchange, in addition to a sponsorship certificate and a subscription to the flamingo gazette, the sponsor receives an email alert each time the animal is observed. The highest formula also allows participation in a day in the Camargue, or even to participate in the flamingo ringing operation.

This action (which gives the right to a tax write-up) contributes to the protection and monitoring of the species by financing the actions of the Tour de Valat and allows the acquisition of equipment for ornithologists who observe them all around the Mediterranean. Since the beginning of this operation, more than 3,500 pink flamingos have been adopted.

Calendar competition: vote for the Marvejols firefighters

#LOZÈREFor the second year in a row, the Marvejols firefighters are taking part in the French Firefighter Calendar Championship. This Thursday, December 26, they will be taking part in the round of 16. Also, the Marvejols firefighters are calling for mass mobilization on social media.

“We're going to find ourselves competing with big fire stations that have more followers,” notes the coordinator of the operation within the fire station, Mathieu Pignol. Their next opponents will be the firefighters of the Saint-Vit association, a town of 25,000 inhabitants located in Doubs.

Flights between Montpellier and Bastia from July 2025

#HÉRAULT Transavia France, the low-cost subsidiary of the Air France-KLM group, has announced the opening of a new airline connecting Montpellier to Bastia, starting July 12, 2025.

This flight to Corsica, operated once a week every Saturday, will offer fares starting at €45 one way. According to the company, this new route meets “a growing demand for Mediterranean destinations”.

From Montpellier, Transavia also offers flights to Rome, Algiers, but also Seville or Lisbon.

#CÉVENNES This is a unique job offer. The Cévennes National Park is looking for a manager for the Aire de Côte lodge, a former forester's house and a major resistance center during the Second World War, located in the middle of the forest, at an altitude of 1,000 m on the Aigoual massif.

Closed in recent years for renovation, the 800 m² building offers accommodation with a capacity of 40 beds, a restaurant with a professional kitchen and a dining room for 50 people, private accommodation and a large outdoor area that can accommodate bivouacs and horses. #GARD This is the height, in meters, of the fall suffered by a 41-year-old man from Gard, on Monday, while he was walking in the town of Montfrin, north of Nîmes. While he was walking along Rue du Temple, he fell, with his pet, to the bottom of a well.

Quickly notified, the firefighters still took 2 hours and 30 minutes to get the unfortunate man out of his trap. The intervention was delicate. Found in a state of hypothermia, the man was transported to the Nîmes University Hospital.
