Born in 1930 in Arifates in this corner of Margeride, this Lozérien obtained honorable sporting results in cycling in this sport so popular at that time. Friend of the legendary Charly Gaul, he notably won the Tour of Great Britain in 1954. In 1955, he turned professional with the Gitane-Hutchinson team and won the Circuit des Ardennes and the Tour de la Manche. He died tragically in 1959 in Troyes.

In his memory, Privat Rousset therefore established this distinctive prize in 2008. It is awarded to a cyclist who contributes or has contributed to the reputation or dynamics of Lozère cycling.

For this 2024 Trophy, the five cyclists nominated are as follows.

The nominees

Paulin Fages: the Caussenard cyclist licensed with the Issoire club, has obtained several victories in road cycling at the regional level and will progress to a higher category for the 2025 season.

Matteo Iniguez: the mountain biker from Mende, a professional with Team Commençal based in Andorra, took 5th place in the legendary RedBull Hardline held in Wales.

Mathys Lafage: the cyclist from Marvejols, licensed in Cournon d'Auvergne, continues his progression in road cycling and has competed in numerous federal Junior events including the Tour international du Léman.

Hugo Lorentz: the mountain biker from Marvejols spent the regular season with Team VTT Lozère. We will remember his consistency in the Coupe de France and his victory in the UCI event in Bilbao.

Daniel Henry: the cyclist from Mende is an emblematic figure of Lozère cycling with numerous mountain bike victories in the 2000s. Born in the 1940s, he still travels more than 15,000 km per year today.

The 2024 winner will be announced on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 and will be awarded the Tamburlini trophy with a prize sponsored by partner Gévaudan Vélo.
