Like many applications, YouTube will gradually start storing data in cache, depending on our browsing habits. Data that will obviously fill up the storage space, and which can eventually cause performance issues, whether you are using a smartphone or a computer.

Indeed, if applications like WhatsApp or Messenger can quickly see their weight explode depending on the media exchanged (and stored in the smartphone's memory), YouTube can also affect performance, by accumulating more and more data via its cache memory. How to Clear YouTube Cache on iOS ?

Clearing the YouTube cache on an Android device is a very simple operation. One might legitimately hope that the thing would be identical on iOS… but this is not really the case.

Indeed, on iOS, you will also have to go to the iPhone Settings, before validating the Storage option. Here, you will find the list of applications installed on your iPhone (which can also be classified according to their weight). In our example, the YouTube application takes up no less than 1.23 GB, of which 960 MB are taken up by documents and data.

The iOS ecosystem then allows the application to be unloaded, which will free up space storage space by deleting the application, while retaining the associated documents and data. Contrary to what one might believe, unloading the application does not therefore empty the cache , like on Android.

To permanently get rid of unnecessary data, you must uninstall the application, before redownloading it via the AppStore. Here again, emptying the YouTube cache will not only allow you to recover a little storage, but also an application in top form.

And on PC?

On a computer, clearing the YouTube cache will be done directly from the settings of the web browser used. The procedure is obviously different depending on the web browser (Edge, Opera, Chrome…) used, but regardless of your preferred browser, it is essential to regularly delete cookies and cache files to maintain optimal operation.
