This is a very big blow for fans of Football Manager franchise. Sports Interactive studio has just announced a new delay to its game, which will not be released until March 2025. It had previously been postponed and was due to be launched on November 25 on PC and consoles. In a press release published for the occasion, Sega has expressed its regrets.
A timing too tight
The video game giant thus underlines: “We've explained that it's been a difficult development cycle for the studio. Many things have moved slower than expected – despite everyone on the team working at an incredible pace to try to get everything done.”
He adds:
The deadlines were already tight and, as many of your recent comments have rightly pointed out, we were simply too rushed and were in danger of compromising our usual standards. This put a huge amount of pressure on everyone in the studio, who are all passionately committed to delivering the best game possible.
To keep us waiting, Sports Interactive has nevertheless given us an appointment at the end of January 2025 for the reveal of the long-awaited new gameplay. One question remains that burns our lips: why postpone a game that comes out every year in the fall ?

In fact, we don't have to look far for explanations. FM 25 will undergo very significant changes this year with the switch to the Unity engine, which changes the lives of developers and makes things more difficult than in the past. With this new postponement, the Sega studio teams will be able to review their copy and keep the immersive side of Football Manager which made its success.
Sports Interactive specifies on this subject: “FM 25 is the biggest technical and visual advancement of the series in a generation. We simply cannot compromise the delivery of this crucial moment in Football Manager history by rushing to release it in November. “
Ambitious, the British creators of the video game simulation also intend to integrate women's football into the franchise, which will give gamers an additional reason to get their hands on this new installment.
