Why It's Really Time To Stop Using WhatsApp, Here Are 5 Valid Arguments

Spread the love

WhatsApp is far from being a perfect application. We explain in 5 points why it is advisable to change your messaging service.

It's hard to escape the WhatsApp phenomenon. In just a few years, the Meta firm (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) has managed to create a messaging application that is very popular around the world. It is estimated that nearly 3 billion people have already used WhatsApp in the past, and that number is only growing.

However, WhatsApp is far from being a perfect application. We even bet that we can give you several arguments to convince you to take the plunge and try another instant messenger. Here are 5 specific points that might make you want to abandon, or even uninstall, WhatsApp from your phone.

First of all, you have to keep in mind that WhatsApp is an application that belongs to the same group as Facebook and Instagram. Two applications that are very regularly cited as being extremely greedy for personal data. WhatsApp is generally less aggressive when it comes to personal data, but this can already put you on your guard.

Still respecting personal data, the company Meta is not the best student when it comes to compliance with the GDPR. As a reminder, this is a set of European rules and laws that allow groups and companies to control and supervise the use of users' personal data. Meta has already been guilty of violating the GDPR in the past and has been fined heavily for failure to respect users' personal data.

Still in the relationship between WhatsApp and its Meta group, the messaging application has already reserved some bad surprises for its users. In 2021, for example, the app's new rules and terms of use indicated that more data would now be shared between WhatsApp and the company Meta.

Regarding user security, it should be noted that while WhatsApp does use an end-to-end message encryption protocol, it is less effective than other messaging apps like Signal or Telegram. The risks of data and conversation hacking are therefore higher on WhatsApp.

Finally, you should know that other applications have many more features than WhatsApp. Take Telegram for example. The latter allows you to create much larger discussion groups, but also to benefit from more customization options compared to WhatsApp. Enough to have a much more advanced experience.
