Wisconsin: partial results, Donald Trump is ahead

In Wisconsin, 10 electors are up for grabs. While the results are still partial, Donald Trump seems to be well on his way.

The duel was announced to be extremely close between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in Wisconsin. This state in the north-east of the United States is one of the 7 swing states in the country, namely those in which the result is uncertain and swings to the left or right depending on the polls.

So far, only partial results have been received in this state, which was lost to the Democrats in 2016 but recovered in 2020. According to the Associated Press, at 94% of the votes counted, Donald Trump takes the lead with 51% against 47.6% for Kamala Harris, or more than three points ahead.

Is Wisconsin leaning more towards the Democrats or the Republicans??

Wisconsin gained statehood in May 1848. Rather Republican until 1928, it switched Democratic side during World War II. From the 1940s until 1984, Republicans swept the majority of elections in this state, before the Democrats regained control of the territory from 1988 to 2012. Since then, it has been presented as a Democratic stronghold. But in 2016, Wisconsin and its 10 major electoral votes were narrowly won by Donald Trump, before, once again, being recovered by Joe Biden four years later, thanks in particular to the vote of the suburbs and women, a sign of his strategic importance in the American presidential election.
