The director and the chairman of the medical commission of the establishment sent their wishes to the staff, this Tuesday, between determination and concerns in a degraded, difficult context. The 2024 activity was intense and 2025 will see two important files advance.

This Tuesday, January 14, early in the afternoon, the director of the Jean-Philippe Sajus hospital center, Pierre Kovalevsky, president of the medical commission of the establishment, and Jean-Yves Chapelet, president of the supervisory board and mayor of Bagnols, presented their wishes to the hospital staff in the presence of Frédéric Streit, deputy director of the Gard delegation of the ARS, Eric Dupeyron, deputy general director of the Nîmes University Hospital.
“2024 was intense in terms of activity, up 8% compared to 2023”, first emphasized the hospital director, who, with his team, worked last year to resubmit the authorization files concerning the activities of the establishment.

Concerning the difficulties in managing fire riskse, “we have security guards 24 hours a day. And additional work will be carried out”.

Significant tensions on cash flow

Among the major ongoing files, the opening of the third scanner planned for the end of April and the start of work on the emergency services, “after long months of preparation” . The major difficulties of the sector have not been avoided, such as the wait for the Social Security financing bill, which “contributes to uncertainty on the budgetary level and major tensions on cash flow. We are under tension over stock and supply issues” . Jean-Philippe Sajus nevertheless affirmed his “determination to control our destiny” : “We can have a pessimistic vision, but no, because the elected officials support us as well as the territorial hospital group […].I am very proud to work alongside you and of our ability to overcome challenges, even if the coming months will still test us.”

“Our hospital is staying the course in its response to the needs of the territory”

The current epidemic crisis “is added to the crisis in our health system with medical desertification, difficulty in recruiting, not to mention the financial crisis of public health institutions which is paralyzing our capacity for self-financing and investment. Despite these difficulties, we continue to fulfill our missions. Our hospital is staying the course in its response to the needs of the territory”, continued Pierre Kovalevsky.
The concern was therefore palpable. In all departments, there is a shortage of more than thirty doctors, “geriatricians, anesthesiologists, emergency doctors, pulmonologists…”. The selflessness of the emergency doctors who work tirelessly was particularly praised. Referring to the establishment's fiftieth anniversary celebrated in September, Pierre Kovalevsky praised the developments that the hospital has undergone, “the cutting-edge technical platform, the growth in day hospitalizations, the cancer care pathways […] and so many other efficient and innovative care”.

The unwavering commitment of the staff

Everyone warmly honored the commitment “unwavering”, the expertise and the humanity of the staff. This is also the testimony that the mayor, chairman of the supervisory board for fourteen years now, wanted to share. “I only meet people here, in all the departments, who are happy, and I receive a friendly welcome everywhere. Thank you for your smiles and your kindness. I know the period is extremely complicated. Stay rocks. Thank you for helping us, elected officials, to reassure the population.”
