Lana, Théo, Eloa, Solvei and Victor took turns declaiming a powerful speech on the theme of Humanity as part of the regional eloquence competition organized by the Fondation Groupe Dépêche in partnership with the Rectorate.

The power of words to restore hope in humanity. The five candidates in the regional eloquence competition who competed this Thursday, January 23 in the Council room of the Montpellier Rectorate have largely fulfilled their mission. These five high school students each declaimed a plea on the theme of “Humanity” to hope for a place in the final, on February 7 at the Cordeliers theater in Albi.

A succession of talents

Lana Rouvière from the Georges-Pompidou high school in Castelnau was the first to go on stage. This student had to replace the initial speaker at short notice who could not come. She still assured by revealing an ode on fear and hope to end with the bet of love.

Théo Estival from the Françoise-Combes high school in Montpellier, for his part, arrived at the desk without a grade and with disconcerting confidence. He delivered a speech filled with finesse and reflection, where science, myth and philosophy followed one another in a skillful and intelligent argument. The trip from Lozère by Solvei Ramdanefrom the Émile-Peytavin high school in Mende was worth it. Through her own experience, she defended humanity with heart and simplicity by mixing her words with the concrete actions that her training gives her. In the ASSP sector, support, care and personal services, she places this very broad concept in everyday gestures, a smile, an idea, mutual aid, with a few touches of humor that made the audience laugh. An original and touching sequence.

And to close this morning of pleadings, Victor Claisse, also a student at the Françoise-Combes high school in Montpellier, chose to discuss his subject around culture, geography and ideas. A well-articulated text to end with a magnificent definition of humanity: an unfinished masterpiece.

Faced with these five talents, the jury had the difficult task of deciding between them. Montpellier being the last selection for the Montpellier Academy after Perpignan, Béziers and Nîmes, only 5 candidates out of 22 will be selected for the grand finale.

But no matter, all have carried with depth and ingenuity the values ​​that constitute humanity and the formidable hope that flows from their texts marked by convictions and optimism.
