Noémie Merlant in total agreement with Léa Salamé

A remark that suits Noémie Merlant perfectly:  “That's how it is, and yes for me Maryline really embodies this woman, whom I admire, intelligent, who has been walled up in an image made by men and for men. So I needed to go through this thing, to free her with her friends”.

Invited onto the set of Quotidien, a few days ago, Noémie Merlant also returned to her need to make her film to heal herself, she who experienced very difficult moments dark. Victim of marital rape and violence, the director confided in him on its “need to exteriorize”. “Between that and the marital rape that I experienced”, she added, explaining that this subject “lack of representation” à l’ éscreen. “I think it's a cathartic film, a film that soothes and that, I hope, allows you to become aware of certain things” , she specified.

“Vulgarity is much more often attributed to men and accepted for men”

With this feature film, Noémie Merlant absolutely wants to convey strong messages. “Beyond having a moment of cinema, I hope that the film will allow rsquo;open to awareness and debates”.

Regarding scenes that mix vulgarity, Noémie Merlant had indicated: “ Vulgarity is much more often attributed to men and accepted for men. In women, it is always more complicated to accept this vulgarity while frankly between we are all just as vulgar. I wanted to use vulgarity to break this glossy image, to make these women human above all, less mystical serious and less sexualized”.
