You're a man using a dating app? You'll think twice before lying about your height in your bio, or when chatting with your matches. Indeed, thanks to artificial intelligence, this information becomes easily verifiable, based on the photos you share on the app. As reported by Mashable, an X user discovered that by having ChatGPT analyze photos from a dating app, it is possible to obtain an estimate of a person’s height and therefore to know if they lied in their bio.

ChatGPT can estimate your height

According to this user's explanations, it would be enough to put 4 photos on the chatbot, and ask for an estimate of the height of the person in these photos. The estimates made by ChatGPT are made by taking into account the proportions and by comparing the person to the height of the objects around them. And apparently, it is very accurate. Indeed, the person who made the publication on X would have done a test with the photos of 10 friends and family members and all the estimates given by ChatGPT were almost correct (to within 2 centimeters).

A free tool for everyone

In addition, it should be noted that today, it is no longer necessary to have a paid account to include photos in the prompts on ChatGPT. Indeed, OpenAI offers its GPT-4o model for free to users of the free version of ChatGPT, but with a daily limit. Compared to GPT-4 or GPT-3.5, GPT-4o was designed to directly process audio and image formats, without going through intermediate models. As a result, this model has a better understanding of these formats.

  • If you use a dating app, don't lie about your height
  • A user has just explained how you can check this information using ChatGPT
  • As a reminder, OpenAI offers its GPT-4o model for free, which can analyze images
  • And apparently, this model is able to estimate a person's height from photos, by analyzing the proportions and height of objects in the photo
