YouTube has just announced a series of new features for its video platform. And among these new features, there is a relatively basic feature, but one that could change the lives of millions of users (those who are used to falling asleep while watching or listening to videos). Indeed, YouTube has just announced the arrival of a feature that will allow you to set a sleep time, after which the video playback stops. This feature was already tested with subscribers to the paid version of YouTube, but now it is available to everyone, on the mobile versions of the platform.
Basically, if you fall asleep, the video will stop after the sleep time. This will prevent you from draining your smartphone battery unnecessarily, while improving the quality of your sleep. Also, you won’t have YouTube videos that you never watched but are marked as already watched because they were played while you were sleeping.
To use this new feature, simply go to the video player settings, then tap on “Sleep timeout”, and choose the timeout that suits you.
YouTube is introducing a “Sleep Timer”, allowing users to set a timer that automatically pauses videos after a chosen duration on mobile devices.

New floating player, collaborative playlist, updated for TV
YouTube still doesn't allow users of the free version to play videos while using other applications. However, the series of new features announced by the platform still includes an improvement in multitasking within the mobile application. In essence, it will be possible to play a YouTube video on a floating player, which can be moved or resized, while exploring the application to search for other videos.
YouTube is also launching collaborative playlists. This feature allows you to share a QR code with your friends, in order to invite them to create a YouTube playlist together. And Google's platform has not forgotten its app for televisions, since it also announces improvements to the interface. First of all, YouTube offers a new design for playing short videos. And when you open a channel page on a TV, you may come across a new immersive format that includes a teaser of the channel's content.
