WhatsApp, the essential instant messaging application, is preparing to change its face with a major update (2.24.12.20). The application had until now not really evolved its design, despite its dazzling popularity. To date, the application is already a real juggernaut with more than 2.4 billion users. However, everything indicates that the trend will not budge since various projections suggest that the threshold of 3 billion users will pass within just a few years.
With its next update, overall, Meta better unifies WhatsApp's graphic charter, which is still quite visible. But there is also something new, with, for example, a tab Actus. But also a revisited menu at the top of Chats, a much better dark mode in terms of contrast – which goes particularly well with the subtle color changes that also arrive, among others, in iOS 18 and Android 15.
The redesign of the News tab is easily the most transformative change in the update. The new presentation, which is reminiscent of Instagram, puts, on the same page, and in a more ergonomic format, your status and those of your loved ones, followed by the channels you follow, recommended channels, and a link that completes the journey by allowing you to search the vast database of channels.
200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000And of course by also allowing you to subscribe to it (don't forget, by the way, to join the Presse-citron channel). All these changes are pushing WhatsApp more and more towards something that resembles a real social network. In terms of graphic charter, WhatsApp is adopting new green tones that are more nuanced and in line with its visual identity. Meta has also reworked the use of color throughout the application.
For now, only certain users have been able to experience the new look of WhatsApp. According to the specialized site WABetaInfo, however, all WhatsApp members will switch to the new design from version 2.24.12.20. A priori, if you don't have it yet, don't panic. Meta is slowly pushing for this type of change so as not to overload its servers.
Whether you are on Android or on iPhone, your WhatsApp application will therefore in all cases be entitled to this rare facelift – it's now a matter of days. For more details on the changes coming to your application, we recommend our dedicated article.
