It was a little over a year ago now that Lenovo tried its luck in the market for “PCs in the form of a portable console” with its Legion GO. More imposing than a Nintendo Switch, Lenovo's Legion GO nevertheless took up its concept, with detachable controllers on either side of the screen. Added to this was an adjustable stand, to place the console on a table. But despite its real qualities, Lenovo's “PC console” didn't really excite us. At CES 2025, the brand wanted to present a new S version of its machine.

The Lenovo Legion also available in an S version

A Lenogo Legion GO S that we have already been able to get our hands on at the brand's stand at CES 2025. The opportunity to discover this new version which now fully assumes its status as a portable console. Indeed, and unlike the first model, there is no detachable controller here (like on a Nintendo Switch Lite), and we therefore benefit from a real portable console and not a hybrid product.

In terms of design, we find on the top the two USB-C ports already present on the previous version, not to mention a trackpad installed under the right joystick. The machine is also intended to be a little more compact, with an LCD screen whose diagonal goes from 8.8″ to 8″, with a definition of 1920 x 1200 pixels (compatible with 120 Hz).

Under the hood, the machine can benefit from an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme and 32 GB of DDR, not to mention a 1 TB SSD, with still an interface under Windows 11, but also Steam OS compatibility. Enough to delight the very many PC players with a (very) large Steam library, and to compete with a certain Steam Deck on its lands.

Battery-wise, we get a 55.5 Wh block here, capable of recovering around 85% of charge in just one hour. On the scale, the machine weighs just under 750 grams, and Lenovo has released its Legion Go S in two colors, namely white for the Windows version and Purple for Steam OS.

Finally, as for price and availability, the Lenovo Legion Go S in its Windows 11 version is expected this January, at a price of $729. We'll have to wait until May to see the “Powered by SteamOS ” version arrive, which will be priced at $499.

And you, are you more Windows 11 or SteamOS ?
