Your MacBook may be considered obsolete by Apple

Spread the love

Apple recently updated its list of devices considered obsolete, and several MacBooks are on it.

Manufacturers like Apple regularly update their devices. This not only adds new features, but also fixes potential security holes and bugs that can be dangerous or taint your daily experience.

Apple has just updated its list of devices considered obsolete by the company. This is a set of products that are no longer sold on the brand's official website, and which will no longer be able to be sent to Apple for official repairs other than a battery replacement. If you have an item considered obsolete as obsolete by Apple, you will no longer be able to turn to independent repairers in the event of a problem.

Here are the new Macs and MacBooks added to the list of obsolete products according to Apple:

  • MacBook Air (13-inch – 2015)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch – 2016)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch – 2016)
  • MacBook Pro (15-inch – 2016)
  • MacBook Pro (Retina – 13-inch -2015)
  • MacBook (Retina – 12 inches -2016)
  • iMac (21.5 inches – 2015)
  • iMac (Retina 4K – 21.5 inches – 2015)
  • iMac (Retina 5K – 27 inches – 2015)

In addition to these products that are now impossible to repair in a specialized Apple center, the company has added three recent MacBooks to its list of items considered “vintage.” These can still be repaired at Apple, but not for much longer. These are the following computers:

  • MacBook Air (Retina- 13-inch – 2018)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch – 2017)
  • MacBook Pro (13-inch – 2018)

We strongly advise you, if you have one of these devices, to take it for a quick check-up at an official Apple store while there is still time.
