Zaz victim of “spasmophilia attacks”: the singer confides in her complicated beginnings in The Voice 2025

Zaz, the new coach of the show The Voice, made some confidences on the set of the program this Saturday, February 1st. The singer mentioned a handicap of which she was a victim at his debut on stage.

It's a date that TF1 viewers have been eagerly awaiting. The kickoff of the new season of The Voice was given this Saturday, February 1st. For this 14th edition, the production called on new coaches, including Zaz. The singer was very touched by the performance of a candidate and this was an opportunity for her to make some confidences about the beginnings of her career. 

Roxane, aged 22, managed to convince two coaches during her performance. The young woman appeared quite shy, highlighting a lack of self-confidence. However, she was able to choose a team, determined to show the extent of her talent through coaching. Her performance made Zaz react a lot since the latter confided that she had found herself in herself. “In her place, I would have fainted”, she revealed.

Zaz: a singer with a complicated beginning

Zaz took advantage of this break to reveal more about the beginnings of her career. While she is comfortable with her audience, she confides that this has not always been the case. I wouldn't have even passed” , Zaz explains, which surprises her colleagues. When her career began, in the early 2000s, the singer explains that she had a lot of difficulty practicing her profession. “I would faint, I would have spasmophilia attacks, tetany and everything. I was too emotional, she said.

When her career began, Zaz was not as comfortable as she is today. For her, performing on stage was very difficult and so she opted for the simplest solution. “The first scenes I did, I had my back to the audience, I was watching only my musicians”, she said, provoking the surprise of the coaches at her side. A testimony that gives a lot of hope to talents since Zaz highlights the fact that you can succeed in music, even when having difficulties perform on stage at the beginning. 

Zaz: a new recruit in the show The Voice

This is the first time that Zaz has participated in the program, as a coach.A new experience for the singer, who confided in the columns of Nice-Matin. After having refused to participate several times, Zaz finally decided to take the plunge. “I tend to avoid media coverage, television, and not show myself, so I didn't see myself in it”, she revealed. before explaining that she had spoken with the production of the program. “I felt a real kindness, it was the right time, I wanted to share, to highlight others, to reach out”, she continues. 

Despite the years, Zaz specifies that she was as stressed as the talents for this first time in the red chair. “I was stressed, when you want to do too well, you put crazy pressure on yourself”, she confides before continuing: “I chained many auditions during the first four days, I had a lot of talent in front of me and it requires real concentration, it's exhausting because I wanted to do well”. A pressure that she had a lot of trouble getting rid of since, for her, this experience is a “real leap into the void”, she concluded.
