A 27-year-old Winnipeg woman has been charged with manslaughter after her 2-month-old child died from malnutrition, police say.

On December 4, 2023, police and emergency responders responded to a home located on Atlantic Avenue, between Arlington and McKenzie streets. Police say they responded to a call for an unresponsive infant, according to a press release issued Friday.

The baby was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was arrested Thursday by Winnipeg police. She remains in detention.
