The information was made official by its publication in the eponymous newspaper dated January 18. Doctor Mounir Benslima was appointed to the National Order of the Legion of Honor with the rank of Knight. Doctor Benslima has been heading the forensic medicine unit at the Nîmes University Hospital for nearly 15 years and is a figure in the legal world as he has been an expert witness in the courts for about thirty years. He heads the forensic medicine department which includes both life medicine with the expert assessments of victims of assault, for example, but also the autopsy section with a department that covers the entire Nîmes Court of Appeal and the departments of Gard, Vaucluse, Lozère and Ardèche. Thus, the expert reports of Doctor Benslima are regularly mentioned in the courts of assizes or in the tribunals of the region.

During some trials, he met high-ranking magistrates or some of the most prominent criminal lawyers, such as Eric Dupond-Moretti, during a sensational trial where the doctor had testified to provide his expertise and, after a barrage of questions from the lawyer, he had prescribed him a prescription so that he could treat a nasty bronchitis. While Dr. Benslima is known for his knowledge of autopsies and his analytical finesse in making crime scenes speak, he is also a very good diagnostician who has worked for the Samu or the Smur, or even with the Gard firefighters. His name therefore appears in the official journal for his appointment as a knight of the Legion of Honor in the contingent of recipients of the Prime Minister. The decree of the President of the Republic is dated January 15, 2025. Contacted this Saturday, Dr. Benslima reacted to his nomination. “This distinction honors me of course but also obliges me to continue the work in the service of others in good humor and simplicity.”
