A sixty-year-old woman lost her life following an armed attack in an apartment building from Laval.

The police were called shortly after 5:30 p.m. due to a disturbance between adults in an apartment on rue Paradis, in the Vimont sector, mentioned the spokesperson for the Laval Police Service (SPL), Érika Landry.

At the scene, they discovered a 61-year-old woman with serious stab wounds, said Ms. Landry.

The woman was then transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Also at the scene of the tragedy, officers arrested a 30-year-old man who was transported to a hospital to assess his health, Ms. Landry said.

The police are currently refusing to disclose the link between the victim and the suspect, since this element is part of the investigation. The man will eventually be encountered by the police.

Thursday evening, a perimeter was still deployed in the area. The SPL called on the crimes against the person squad and the forensic identification service to analyze the scene.

The investigation continued in order to shed light on the circumstances of the event.
