The person who will lead Santé Québec will have even higher remuneration than what some media had recently suggested: it will be $567,000 per year, and $652,050 in the first two years.

The salary conditions offered to the future CEO of this new government agency were made public Wednesday in the Gazette Officiel du Québec. His “base” annual salary will be $567,000 per year, but he will be entitled to “additional compensation of 15%” during the first two years of his mandate, it specifies.

At $652,050, his income will then exceed that of the CEO. of Hydro-Québec, the highest paid boss of Quebec state-owned companies, who receives $639,000 per year.

The candidates sought do not necessarily need to have professional experience in the health network, indicates the call for applications made public on Wednesday. However, knowledge of the network will be considered an “asset”. The government is looking for someone with a graduate degree in administration, health, business management, public administration or “any other field deemed relevant.” She must also have professional experience of at least 15 years in management, including 5 as “leader of a large organization”.

The future CEO will be appointed for a maximum term of five years, with the possibility of renewal. Its mandate will be to make the network more “efficient”, to improve the services offered to the population and to make Santé Québec an employer of choice.

The government also posted on Wednesday a call for applications for members of the board of directors of Santé Québec. The body will be made up of 13 people, in addition to the CEO. and the Deputy Minister of Health. Each member will be paid up to $21,200 per year to serve on it.

The CEO, the members of the Board of Directors and their president must be appointed next spring.
