A teacher attacked in class in a school in Laval

The 13-year-old teenager who attacked the teacher was arrested by the police.

A 65-year-old teacher suffered upper body injuries after being attacked in the middle of class by a 13-year-old student on Thursday afternoon, in a school in Laval.

The event occurred shortly after dinner at the school. Odyssée-des-Jeunes, according to information from the spokesperson for the Police Department of the City of Laval (SPL) Érika Landry.

The teacher allegedly asked the student to change his behavior, after which the latter allegedly attacked her.

Some students reported that the attack was allegedly carried out with scissors, but this information was not confirmed by the police, said Sergeant Landry .

The students around tried to intervene, and the teaching staff was finally able to control the student.

The teacher was taken to hospital for treatment of upper body injuries and possible nervous shock, according to the police spokesperson.

The teenager was also taken to the hospital to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

In the evening, the young suspect was arrested by the police for armed assault. He was released by summons. He is therefore no longer detained pending possible charges. The file will soon be sent to prosecutors, indicated Sergeant Landry. had not responded to an email from The Canadian Press at the time of writing.
