Arrest of a Montrealer who allegedly defrauded nearly $600,000

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) has arrested a Montreal man suspected of' #x27;having set up a fraudulent scheme which would have allowed him to extract nearly $600,000 from his victims.

Asim Ahmed, who is 42 years old, appeared Thursday at the Montreal courthouse on charges of fraud over $5,000.

The investigation into this man was launched in October 2022.

Investigators from the SQ's Economic Crimes Investigation Division explain that the suspect's stratagem consisted of approaching people by telling them that he had sued the Quebec government and the Quebec Authority. financial markets (AMF) and that he had won his case.
