Assault on Air Canada plane forces landing in Winnipeg

Wednesday , an Air Canada plane flying from Toronto to Calgary had to make an unscheduled stop in Winnipeg after a 16-year-old boy attacked a family member mid-flight, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

Flight 137 was scheduled to land at Winnipeg's James Armstrong Richardson International Airport around 12:20 p.m. RCMP say the teen is from Grande Prairie, Alberta.

Passengers and employees managed to subdue the youth who was then transported to hospital for medical evaluation.

The victim, a male, was treated for minor physical injuries.

According to information from the RCMP, no other passengers on the flight required &# x27;medical assistance.
