At the dawn of adulthood, Thibault de Percin is not an ordinary high school student. In his final year of high school, he already has to his credit an invention that promises to leave its mark on the small world of scientific research: the moltimeter. This ingenious device was designed to directly measure moles in an atom, which can greatly simplify the lives of chemists.
Innovation in science
The moltimeter is the result of a frustration shared by many chemistry students: the repetitive conversion of moles to grams. Tired of these tedious calculations, Thibault asked his professor about the existence of a device capable of performing them automatically. Faced with a negative response, he took matters into his own hands and created what he was looking for.
This – third – Thibault’s invention is the culmination of a passion for innovation that has driven him since his childhood. From the age of 5, he was building complex machines from simple materials like paper and cardboard. His creativity was nourished by his diligent reading of the magazine Sciences et Vie Junior which then opened the doors to the “Innovez!” competition. .

A deserved reward
Thibault's talent was recognized since he was selected among the 12 finalists of the competition, in June 2023. He then presented his moltimeter on March 3, 2024 at the Musée des Arts et Métiers at l& #8217;on the occasion of the event which also celebrated the 35th anniversary of Science&Vie Junior, although it was not 8217;did not win the final trophy. That said, its innovation and its young age certainly have a bright future in store for it. Bravo Thibault!
