Aurélie Bérubé pleaded guilty to charges of assault and aggravated assault on Friday at the Palais de righteousness of Amos. The former daycare manager had inflicted severe injuries on a child who was 1 year old at the time of the incident.
The alleged facts date back to January 2019. It took more than two years after the events, in November 2021, before the Major Crimes Investigation Division of the Sûreté du Québec made the arrest d'Aurélie Bérubé.
During the hearing on Friday, the woman of 35 years old, who now resides in Senneterre, admitted the facts summarized in a written document. These facts were not made public before being placed under seal for the judge who will eventually have to determine the sentence.
Judge Marie-Chantale Brassard, of the Court of Quebec, declared Aurélie Bérubé guilty of the two counts against her. She then ordered the preparation of a pre-sentence report and a Gladue report.
A Gladue report puts the historical, systemic and individual factors of Indigenous accused into perspective to tailor the sentence to their needs and circumstances.< /p>LoadingDefamation trial in New York: Donald Trump must pay US$83.3 million to E. Jean Carroll
