After One Piece, Netflix is preparing to bring a new legendary live action animated series. Avatar, the last airbender arrives this Thursday, February 22 on the streaming platform. The opportunity for us to present this fiction to you, and what the first reviews say about it.

Netflix has offered an official synopsis of the series on site:
A live-action adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon animated series, Avatar: The Last Airbender follows Aang, the young Avatar, who learns to master the four elements (water , earth, fire and air) in order to restore balance in a world threatened by the terrifying fire nation. Along the way, Aang will team up with Katara and Sokka, two brothers from the Water Tribe, as well as many other unforgettable characters.
What the critics are saying ?
Netflix previewed its series in Los Angeles. At the exit, the journalists shared their opinion. Like Mike Thomas from Collider :
The first episode is fantastic! From the opening scene you realize that this is much better than the 2010 film. The fights are great, but it's the acting that stands out. These kids feel like Team Avatar. A fun new take on a timeless classic.
Same story with Joshua Yehl d’IGN :
The first episode is pretty incredible. It is more dramatic, more mature and more violent than the original. The best part is what they add to flesh out and enrich the story we already know, like showing Order 66 (a reference to Star Wars Editor's note) from the masters of the # 8217;air. A good start!

The series is in a hurry to get somewhere and feels completely exclusionary to new viewers, paying lip service to the beats of the animated series with sloppy dialogue. You'll soon know if it's right for you, and it's not for me….
As we can see, opinions are quite divided on this new series which has the merit of leaving no one indifferent. The good news is that we don't have to wait to get feedback. See you this Thursday on Netflix.
