Body found at the scene Quebec: three people arrested

A body was found late Sunday afternoon in the Saint-Augustin area.

    Three people from the Montreal region are accused of contempt, indecency or indignity towards a human corpse, in connection with the body which was found Sunday in Quebec, very close to the limits of Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures. /p>

    Sunday evening, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) arrested the three suspects aboard a vehicle in Kahnawake: François Bouchard, aged 31, Cassandra Major, 31, and Jean-Philippe Lamontagne, 44. The car was also searched.

    The three suspects are incarcerated in Mascouche and appeared remotely at the Quebec courthouse on Monday afternoon. Their appearance for release is however postponed until Friday morning since other charges may be added to their files.

    All three defendants have criminal records. According to information from Radio-Canada, the event is linked to organized crime.

    The body was discovered Sunday afternoon on the grounds of L'ABC de l'arbre, a company specializing in arboriculture, on Notre-Dame Avenue.

    Meanwhile, the defendants are also prohibited from communicating with Samuel Gauvin, the owner of the business where the body was found.

    The authorities were called to go to the north of the Sainte-Foy–Sillery–Cap-Rouge district around 1:30 p.m. It was then that they discovered the inanimate body which would be in a difficult to identify condition.

    Quebec City police officers were called to the scene.

    This is the fifth murder investigation in Quebec this year. The SQ is collaborating with the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) on this file, since several elements collected on site made it possible to make the link with a murder which allegedly occurred in Contrecœur, in Montérégie.

    A command post has been deployed on the scene. Police officers were still present on Monday.

    The SQ has not yet released any information regarding the #x27;identity of the victim. An autopsy will be performed.

    Investigators are also examining a crime scene in a residential area of ​​Contrecœur. The Forensic Identification Service and the Forensic Science and Forensic Medicine Laboratory are on site. A security perimeter has been established.
