Health Minister Christian Dubé on Tuesday rejected the idea that the boss of Santé Québec, Geneviève Biron, be questioned in Parliament. It is he, and not the latter, who will answer the questions of the opposition deputies, he promises.
“It will make me happy. I will answer,” declared Minister Dubé during the question period.
Bill 15, by which the agency was created, provided precisely that the minister “does not absolve himself from his responsibilities towards the National Assembly”, he recalled.
As for Ms. Biron, she “has just arrived” and will do a “tour of all the teams,” he said, without specifying whether she could address the elected officials afterwards.

The member for Québec solidaire Vincent Marissal had asked Christian Dubé to commit to ensuring that the president and CEO of Santé Québec and her vice-president, Frédéric Abergel, would come and answer questions from the elected in parliamentary committee before their mandate begins.
“The health network is 60 billion dollars, 300,000 employees. Biron has 1,000 employees, it’s not quite the same thing,” declared Mr. Marissal. The MP also said he had “many questions” to ask Ms. Biron about the risks of conflicts of interest to which she is exposed.
Monday, during the he announcement of her appointment, the new president and CEO also committed to making herself available to answer questions from the media during her mandate. “I think we’re going to be extremely transparent,” she said. “I expect us to communicate a lot. […] We will communicate our results. Then, through all of that, of course, we will talk with the journalistic community. »
