Cinema: 5 major films that we are waiting for by the end year

The year 2023 is already well underway, but there are still great celebrations to come at the cinema. The Marvel/DC rivalry continues, while the Hunger Games saga returns. Ridley Scott presents his version of Napoleon, and Timothée Chalamet slips into the skin of the rejuvenated chocolatier Wonka. Overview of what awaits us in French cinemas.

The MCU is not in great form this year, but the Disney studio intends to raise the bar with the release of The Marvelson Wednesday, November 8, 2023. For the occasion, three superheroines will meet on screen: Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau and Ms. Marvel. The latter see their destinies intertwined especially since they share the same source of power.

We can expect a fairly fresh and light film and the alchemy should reign between these three characters feminine. The three young women will have a lot to do, while the multiverse has new threats in store for them. They will also have the pleasure of benefiting from the help of Nick Fury after the events of the series Secret Invasion recently broadcast on Disney+.

This feature film is a prequel to the Hunger Games saga which will be released on Wednesday November 15, 2023 in cinemas. The story follows the plot of the novel by Suzanne Collins released in 2020. We will follow the rise of the tyrant of Panem, Coriolanus Snow, when the latter is only 18 years old. We take place here years before he became president, and the main antagonist of the first films.

According to the official synopsis: “As the tenth Hunger Games quickly approaches, young Snow becomes concerned when he is assigned the role of mentor to Lucy Gray Baird, the girl from District 12. But after Lucy attracts the attention of Panem by singing during the ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to tip the scales in their favor.”

Ridley Scott puts big dishes with this biopic which will be released on Wednesday November 22, 2023 in the cinema. We will follow the life of Napoleon (played by Joaquin Phoenix), the first French emperor.

The idea is therefore to return to the controversial journey of this historical character, his feats of arms, his excesses, to through a portrait which promises to be fascinating to say the least if we are to believe the trailers. After its theatrical release, Napoléon will be available on the Apple TV+ streaming platform.

DC Comics is also struggling this year. The release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on Wednesday December 20, 2023 is therefore of capital importance for the Warner Bros. studio. Since the first part, the superhero has become a father, and he rules his underwater kingdom with the help of his Black Trident.

But he should ally himself with his half-brother, Orm, to save the world from a worrying threat in the person of Black Manta. The trailer revealed suggests a very rhythmic film which should cheer up spectators as Christmas approaches.

Paul King, already at work on Paddington , spoils the public as the end-of-year holidays approach. Wonka will indeed be released on Wednesday December 13, 2023 in cinemas. We will discover the origins of the famous chocolatier Willy Wonka, played by Timothée Chalamet.

This film will draw on the work of Roald Dahl while taking some liberties with this colorful character. We clearly can't wait to see what this will look like on the big screen.
