Côte-de-Liesse: search in connection with car theft

Near the Côte-de -Liesse, the Sûreté du Québec arrived at the scene of this business Tuesday evening around 8 p.m.

The RCMP tactical intervention group carried out an arrest Tuesday evening in Laval on the' Highway 13. A 25-year-old man was arrested and released after being questioned overnight. It would be connected to a car theft network.

For the moment, Radio-Canada has not could have had confirmation from the Sûreté du Québec if other searches and arrests had taken place.

Canada has seen a significant increase in car thefts. In Quebec, auto theft rates increased by 50%.

In total, in 2022, 105,673 motor vehicle thefts were reported, according to Statistics Canada.
