Sûreté du Québec investigators obtained search warrants to search a garage in Dorval in the West Island of Montreal .

Radio-Canada was able to confirm with two independent police sources that the searches carried out on Wednesday regarding car thefts in Montreal and Mirabel targeted a suspected exporter to use the port of Montreal to send hundreds of stolen cars overseas.
These strikes were carried out by the new mixed regional squad of the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), which is investigating full-time the activities of two clandestine exporters, based in Montreal, specializing in the export of stolen cars to Ontario and Quebec from the Port of Montreal.
The police therefore obtained warrants on Tuesday evening to search a garage belonging to a 25-year-old suspect, located on Côte-de-Liesse, in Dorval, as well as at his private home on rue de Blois, in Laval.
According to our information, it is considered one of the two main exporters in the Bureau's sights of the SQ investigation partnership.
A few minutes earlier, the individual had been intercepted by the SQ tactical intervention group. The interception took place while the suspect was driving on Highway 13, near Chemin Grande-Côte, in the north of Laval.

Three addresses were targeted by searches Tuesday evening as part of an SQ strike against car thefts.
The suspect would be directly linked to the vast investigation of this new squad, which intercepted, on February 13, 26 containers containing 54 vehicles stolen intended for Morocco and Belgium.

Of the vehicles seized, 19 were stolen in Ontario and 35 in Quebec.
