Fire at the tourist office and the Aigoual Park
#LOZÈRE – Cévennes National Park officers are working to assess the damage following the fire that hit the Maison du tourisme et du Parc de l’Aigoual on the night of Thursday 5 to Friday 6 December. Criminal activity appears to have been ruled out, but a police investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire. The damage mainly affects the top floor and the roof. An exhibition by illustrator Justin Piveteau that was currently on display there was extensively damaged. The tourist office, located on the ground floor, was spared by the fire. “We will work closely with our partners to rebuild this place full of history”, said Vincent Cligniez, director of the Cévennes National Park.
Disturbing disappearance of a 43-year-old woman
#HÉRAULT – Since Monday, December 2, at 9:15 a.m., Thérésa, a 43-year-old mother, has disappeared from her family home in Adissan in Hérault. She is believed to be driving a gray Citroën C3 vehicle, with registration DL-675-JE. The gendarmes of the Pézenas company are looking for testimonies from people who could help locate Thérésa and/or her vehicle and are therefore launching an appeal for witnesses. Thérésa is 1.60 m tall, slim, with brown hair and colored highlights. Anyone with information that could help the investigation is invited to contact the Pézenas gendarmerie company on 04 67 98 13 65.

#AUDE – €800 per kilo for the 1st category, €650 per kilo for the second. This is the price of the “black diamonds” that sold in a few minutes at the first truffle market of the season organized this Saturday, December 7, in the heart of the Saint-Hilaire abbey by the Association of Aude truffle growers. For comparison, last year, during the launch in Moussoulens, the prices set were higher, at €1,000 per kilo for the first category and €800 per kilo for the second.

#AUDE/P-O – This Saturday, December 7, Météo France had placed Aude and the P-O on orange alert due to a particularly intense wind episode, caused by the passage of storm Darragh in the north of the country, between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Mont Tauch beacon, near Tuchan (Aude), recorded a gust of wind at 193 km/h. In the area, the wind was particularly violent, with an average of 113 km/h. In addition, while the entire Pyrenees chain was also placed on orange alert for snow and ice, traffic restrictions were announced by the authorities from the afternoon. Thus, a tonnage limit came into force on the RN20 between Foix (Ariège) and Ur (P-O). Traffic was also closed to all vehicles on the RN 320 between the place called La Croisade and the Col du Puymorens. Heavy snowfall was expected in the final hours of this Saturday. Storm Darragh hit the United Kingdom particularly hard, on red alert, where 130,000 homes were without electricity on Saturday.
A restored crocodile skeleton
#HÉRAULT – Among other archaeological and geological treasures, a crocodile skeleton was taken out of the reserves of the Lodève Museum. 180 million years old and 5 meters long, it was discovered during an excavation campaign on the Larzac. It is the company Kraniata, a specialist in the articulation of animal skeletons, which will be responsible for restoring it. At the same time, it will be the subject of studies to determine its species before returning to the Lodève Museum for the “Comparative Anatomy” exhibition, scheduled for autumn 2025.
