September 2023. We are at IFA, a large high-tech trade fair organized in Berlin. After three days of walking its corridors, our conclusion is clear: the 2023 edition of the IFA is indeed that of robot vacuum cleaners.
Among the stars of the event, Roborock, now market leader. Stronger than ever, the Chinese giant intends to maintain its lead by regularly renewing its products. Among the robot vacuum cleaners, two devices caught our eye: the brand's first washing machine, of course, but also the Dyad Pro Combo, a vacuum cleaner-washer 5-in-1.
Thanks to a very well thought-out engineering system, Roborock undoubtedly offers one of the best household appliances of the year. We'll explain why.
A well thought out concept

How did Roborock manage to design a 5-in-1 vacuum cleaner, capable of vacuuming and cleaning floors but also of refinishing your carpets and sofas? Thanks to an ingenious system based on an engine block associated with accessories of all kinds.
Everything therefore starts from the “head” of the device. The motor block, equipped with a handle, is the conductor. When at rest, it is fixed on the cleaning broom, itself placed on the washing station. Alongside, a series of accessories allows the Dyad Pro Combo to meet all cleaning needs.
By unhooking the head of the mop, you can transform the Dyad Pro Combo into a cordless vacuum cleaner. Roborock provides the same accessories as a classic stick vacuum: a multi-surface brush for all floor types, a 2-in-1 crevice tool for difficult areas and a mini motorized brush for sofas, armchairs and car seats.

Changing accessories is child's play and therefore allows the Dyad Pro to transform into either a vacuum cleaner or a mop, as you wish. Roborock also provides the charging station with an additional block allowing you to place the various accessories there. You will be able to put away your old vacuum cleaner.
Impeccable wash

If the Dyad Pro Combo is a rather heavy vacuum cleaner (4.8 kg all the same), it proves effective. Its clean water tank combined with a washing product (the brand recommends its own) removes any dirt in the blink of an eye.
In theory, the recovered residues should pass through a sieve to prevent solid matter from settling at the bottom of the wastewater. This is not the case, the holes in the sieve being much too big. Thus, cat food, for example, passes through, which then leaves unpleasant odors around the station (we will come back to this).
Apart from this slight inconvenience, the Dyad Pro Combo proves formidable. Thanks to its suction power and its three rollers rotating in opposite directions, no dirt can resist it, even the least disgusting. Egg shells, cat food, leftover food, everything goes through in the blink of an eye. The ideal ally for the aftermath of difficult evenings.
To obtain such results, Roborock first improved the design of its vacuum cleanerso that it can get as close as possible to the plinths (only 1 mm). The manufacturer has also pushed all the sliders in terms of power, the max mode (there are four: eco, auto, drying and max) making it possible to reach 17,000 Pa!

And like “ without control, power is nothing ”, Roborock has developed a technology allowing supply the broom with water depending on the level of dirt on the floor.
Finally, although the device is heavy, Roborock has managed to make its handling relatively simple. And for rest, a parking position allows you to leave it vertical while you blow or clear an obstacle.

Since it is versatile, the Roborock Dyad Pro Combo can also act as a vacuum cleaner. It also proves very effective, even if it is noisy. Cleaning sofas and car seats is also child's play. Impressive.
Maintenance not so easy

The Dyad Pro Combo features automatic cleaning technology RevoBrush. Place the broom on its charging station, press a button, and the rollers are automatically washed, followed by drying. Operation time: 3 minutes.
While this technology provides a certain level of everyday comfort, maintenance is much less easy than it seems. To chase away bad odors, it is essential to thoroughly clean the device almost every time it is used.

You will therefore have to dismantle it piece by piece (clean water tank, dirty water, three rollers, etc.) to start off on a good basis. Roborock provides a brush to reach more difficult places, but we would have liked the major cleaning to only be necessary once a week, for example.
The noise and the smells

You will say that we insist on this point. You are right. The odor problem is not new on this model. For three generations now, the Dyad has always had the same problem: despite cleaning the station, the odors persist after a single wash. We have tried several techniques to avoid this problem, such as leaving a little cleaning product in the dirty water tray. Nothing works. Stagnant water and rollers (despite drying) give off unpleasant odors.
Roborock also failed to reduce the noise emitted by its car wash. If the stick vacuum cleaner is rather quiet (73 dB in Max or Mop mode compared to 85 dB for the direct competition), the cleaning on its base goes up in the towers. And since it lasts 3 minutes in total, suffice to say that putting on noise-cancelling headphones is not a luxury.
Autonomy a little tight

Roborock announces a battery life of 43 minutes, or 30% more than the Dyad (35 minutes), without specifying with which cleaning mode. We assume that the brand based itself on an average of all modes, our tests in Max or Mop mode revealing a maximum autonomy of 25 minutes. If you plan to carry out a deep cleaning of an area greater than 80 m2, you will therefore have to be dynamic.
Because you won't be able to count on efficient recharging. Allow nearly 4 hours for the Dyad Pro Combo to regain its full strength. Why is it so long? Because the first two hours already use energy to dry the rollers. You can't have it all.
After an encouraging Dyad, a convincing Dyad Pro, Roborock gives us a formidable Dyad Pro Combo. Thanks to its versatility, the Roborock vacuum cleaner is effective in all circumstances and for all surfaces.
If you are looking for an efficient all-in-one household appliance you will not find better for this price on the market. Because at only 600 euros, the Dyad Pro Combo becomes a do-it-all machine that will make you put your old household appliances in the closet.
Of course, it is not perfect. Noisy, it lacks autonomy and gives off bad odors if you do not clean it thoroughly each time you use it. Roborock can therefore still improve its recipe, but as it stands it is already tasty.
