Robert Blondin's legal file will return to the courthouse on December 15.

Radio-Canada

Former author, designer and animator Robert Blondin appeared at the Sherbrooke courthouse on Thursday through his lawyer.

Robert Blondin faces charges of indecent assault on a female and rape of a minor. The latter recently filed a complaint and was aged between 16 and 18 at the time of the facts.

The accused pleaded not guilty to these charges .

The events would have occurred between September 1, 1975 and October 25, 1977, which explains the wording of the charges which are different from what is now displayed in the Criminal Code. We must bring the charges that were in force at the time the actions occurred, explains the prosecutor to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP), Me Juliette Ménard-Reid. These charges have today been replaced in the Criminal Code, with a few nuances, by the charge of sexual assault.

The alleged facts allegedly occurred in Estrie, in Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley.

Magogois of origin, Robert Blondin, 81 years old, is now a resident of Longueuil.

He hosted radio shows on Radio-Canada during the 1980s and 1990s. Until recently, he hosted the show L'aventure on Canal M, a channel that deals with issues concerning disabilities and inclusion.

The file will return to the Sherbrooke courthouse on December 15 for orientation of the file. This is the date on which we will be able to assess what the different options are and what position he [Robert Blondin] will take for the rest of the procedures, adds Me Juliette Ménard-Reid.
