Samsung hit hard this year. While summer is slowly arriving and vacations are just around the corner, the South Korean brand didn't want to see us go to the beach without new products. Samsung therefore took advantage of this July 10 to present numerous products, including some new ones (hello Galaxy Ring).

In a more traditional way, Samsung has also updated its catalog of smartphones, with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, but also new connected watches. The big news this year in this category is the arrival of the Galaxy Watch Ultra, a connected watch designed for athletes and adventurers. It presents itself as a direct competitor to the Apple Watch Ultra 2, presented last year by the Apple brand.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra: what is it worth?

Samsung took a risky bet this year by marketing a Galaxy Watch Ultra. The South Korean giant's watch must be as efficient as its Apple rival, if it does not want to suffer (too much) from the competition. So, Samsung pulled out all the stops.

Like the Californian firm, the Galaxy Watch Ultra will be built with a titanium chassis (grade 4). Designed to be worn everywhere, in all weathers, the watch is certified MIL-STD-810H, a military standard created by the American Department of Defense to test its material.

Among the other interesting features, we obviously find Galaxy AI, the in-house artificial intelligence tool. In particular, it must provide access to an “energy score” every morning. Samsung also promises 30% more accurate sleep analysis. The measurement of heart rate as well as the calculation of the different effort zones have also been improved.

Galaxy Watch 7: logical but bland evolution?

In addition to this Galaxy Watch Ultra which attracts all eyes, Samsung has updated its catalog of “classic” connected watches. With the Watch 7, the Asian manufacturer is not taking any risks, even if it means appearing a little dull.

The watch still benefits from Samsung Health and has some features of Galaxy AI, but the developments compared to previous years can be counted on the fingers of one hand. The watch was designed by Samsung in its characteristic, very round style.

It should make it easy to monitor your health, with better battery life and more sensors. The watch also benefits from dual frequency GPS (L1+L5). The BioActive sensor goes from 5 to 13 LEDs.

Prices and availability

These new connected watches are available for pre-order today. As for the Watch 7, it can be purchased in two different versions, 40mm (green and cream) or 47mm (green and silver). The smaller of the two versions will cost 319 euros. Will the largest be sold 349 euros by the South Korean manufacturer ?

As for the Watch Ultra, it is sold by Samsung 699 euros. It only comes in 47mm with three different case colors gray, silver and white. That's 200 euros less than the Apple Watch Ultra 2 that the Cupertino company has been selling for a year.
