The ROG Ally X is one of the most anticipated announcements of this Computex 2024. Not really a new console, but more than a simple update, this version , and here is our opinion on it.
Revised ergonomics and appearance
The first thing you notice about this ROG Ally is obviously its color, which this time is available in black. But that's not all, the most pleasant changes here have been made in the name of ergonomics. So, the console offers larger grip sizes, which increases comfort in play.

The resistance of the joysticks has been extended, which provides more pleasant and precise sensations. These have also been brought closer to the D-Pad and the ABXY keys, in order to offer faster transitions. One last point concerning this time the rear of the console, the size of the additional triggers has been reduced in order to avoid any accidental pressing.
The D-pad has also been modified in order to be more precise, but we haven't had the chance to try this one yet.
Internal changes that are felt externally
In order to improve your copy of the PC in console form by responding to the requests from gamers, Asus had to make many changes. Rather than just hardware improvements, the console design has been revised following the changes made.

The motherboard has thus been revised in order to integrate two USB-C ports (3.2 and 4). The chassis has also been revised in order to integrate a more efficient fan, but also and above all a battery now having a capacity of 80 Wh when the ROG Ally offers 40.
Obviously this results in a 70 gram heavier ROG Ally X with a total weight of 678 grams. In our hands, this slight addition of weight did not feel restrictive.
A design that seems well put together

This ROG Ally X from Asus seems to be an excellent evolution of the current console. With slightly rounded edges and larger handles, the machine is more ergonomic. We see that the other practical and aesthetic improvements have been greatly thought through by the Taiwanese brand.
The ROG Ally price of 899.99 euros, and we are confident that this will be a big improvement compared to its big sister.
