Nearly 400 police officers from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) were deployed to Montreal on Tuesday morning in a large-scale operation to execute around twenty search warrants as part of Project Chrome, which aims to counter a criminal organization alleged.

The large-scale operation follows an investigation by the Joint D& #x27;investigation into organized crime conducted in collaboration with the Joint Proceeds of Crime Unit and the Canada Revenue Agency.

According to our information, the operation would target the Lopez-Oliverio family clan, suspected of cocaine trafficking, money laundering and being involved in illegal gambling.

Around fifteen arrests have been made, but no appearance has yet taken place. The suspects are not expected to appear before the end of the investigation which will continue in the coming days. They are currently detained at RCMP headquarters.

Four intervention groups (GTI) are also on the locations to allow simultaneous strikes. These are the tactical groups of Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick and British Columbia.
