Murder in Sherbrooke: Steeve Gilbert appeared

The suspect arrested Friday in the stabbing murder of a 52-year-old man on Gillespie Street appeared in court Saturday afternoon.

For now, Steeve Gilbert, 44, faces a charge of armed assault on another victim of the events that occurred during the night from Thursday to Friday.

According to the Sûreté du Québec, the accusations concerning the&#x27 ;homicide will be brought later, at the beginning of next week. Steeve Gilbert will be back at the Sherbrooke courthouse on Tuesday.

Until then, the& #x27;44-year-old man remains detained. He surrendered himself to the police on Friday afternoon.

The Office of Independent Investigations is also looking into this matter. Five investigators were dispatched to the scene on Friday to shed light on the intervention of the Sherbrooke Police Department.

Last September, Steeve Gilbert was the subject of a national arrest warrant since he was at “illegal liberty”. He was arrested a few days later on Gillespie Street, in Sherbrooke.
