It was 2016, the Italian manufacturer Lancia left France to (re)focus on its native land. In 2024, the brand wants to make its big comeback, in France, but also in Germany, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and the Netherlands, i.e. “countries where ;#8217;appetite for Italian brands is significant” indicated Joël Verany for Stellantis at the end of last year. Today, Lancia unveils its long-awaited “new Ypsilon”, a 100% electric model.

New Ypsilon, the first electric car from Lancia

The new Lancia Ypsilon marks the return of the brand to Europe. From the first half of 2024, Lancia will be back in several countries with a network of more than 70 new dealerships in as many large cities. The brand will return first to Belgium and Holland, then to Spain where 16 points of sale will be opened by 2025 and finally to France with 20 dealerships and 80 service points planned.

Small revolution at Lancia, since this new Ypsilon is the brand's first 100% electric car. With its 156 hp/115 kW engine and 51 kWh battery (hello Peugeot e-208 and Corsa-e), the new Ypsilon promises a range of 403 km in the WLTP combined cycle.

Added to this is a recharge of 20 to 80% in 24 minutes, enough to recover 100 km of autonomy in just 10 minutes. Consumption is between 14.3 and 14.6 kWh per 100 km.

Lancia has designed its new Ypsilon as an 'intelligent city car', which wishes to reinterpret tradition, while giving in to the sirens of modernity. The silhouette thus evokes the Aurelia and the Flaminia, but also the famous Stratos (via the round LED headlights at the rear) and Delta.

A new S.A.L.A on-board interface

On board, we find a virtual and intelligent interface called S.A.L.A. (Sound Air Light Augmentation), which brings together the audio functions, air conditioning and ambient lighting. 2024 obliges, S.A.L.A. also comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Bluetooth, a wireless phone charger and three USB-C ports.

For the occasion, Lancia will offer a Cassina limited edition of its new Ypsilon. A model which will be available in Italy, and limited to 1906 certified and numbered units. A number which obviously pays homage to the year Lancia was founded.

Note that this model will have a “tavolino”, a small coffee table found inside a car , which promises to create “a real living room which offers comfort worthy of your home and a harmonious and elegant space” according to Lancia. Price-wise, count on €39 500 all the same.

It remains to be seen whether this new Lancia Ypsilon will succeed in seducing its public, and in particular the Italian community who once enjoyed driving a Fiat, an Alfa Romeo… and in Lancia. Some already criticize it for being too obviously affiliation with other Stellantis models, as well as a price which still seems too high.

Finally, in order to correlate with the Stellantis strategic plan “Dare Forward“, Lancia will not will launch more than 100% electric models from 2026.
