The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) and the Service de police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ) announced Sunday that they had made new arrests linked to the violent conflict raging between the Quebec chapter of the Hells Angels and independent drug traffickers.

Early Sunday morning, the SPVQ announced that it had arrested four suspects believed to be close to Dave “Pic” Turmel, leader of the Blood Family Mafia, the criminal group fighting against the Hells Angels to obtain the control of the sale of drugs in several regions of Quebec.

The suspects, a woman and three men, are elderly between 35 and 40 years old, and would be well known to the police, according to the SPVQ investigation captain, Marie-Manon Savard.

Three searches took place in the last few hours, two on the territory of Quebec City in the Beauport sector and another in the municipality of Lac-Aux-Sables, mentions the SPVQ in a press release.

This strike allowed authorities to seize 45 caliber and 9 mm ammunition, narcotics, a possibly bloodstained drill and a ten grams of a substance which could be cocaine.

For its part, the Sûreté du Québec announced that it had arrested five more suspects in its operation against organized crime in the east of the province, bringing the total number of arrests to 14 since Friday . Two 36-year-old men were arrested in Sept-Îles and Quebec in connection with the kidnapping that occurred last Monday in Saint-Malachie, in Chaudière-Appalaches, which left one dead and three injured.

Recall that the SQ deployed around a hundred police officers in several regions of Quebec in order to curb the escalation of violence in the underworld.

In total, 18 individuals suspected of having links with the underworld have been arrested by the authorities since Friday, mainly in Quebec and Chaudière-Appalaches.

The launch of this offensive by the Sûreté du Québec did not harm the operations of the SPVQ, and did not force the hand of the Quebec City police officers, according to the investigation captain, Marie-Manon Savard.

It is very good that the SQ is on our territory, in contact with us, that we each work on our files on our own and in collaboration; this is what is desirable for our citizens, she concluded.
